Gucci, formerly known as The House of Gucci is world famous Italian label that designs leather and fashion goods. It is owned by the French holding company “Pinault-Printemps-Redoute”. In 1921 Gucci was founded by Guccio Gucci, who is considered a legend in fashion designing.

It is the largest selling Italian brand in the world with €2.2 billion as recorded in 2009.

In general perspective, logos can express various ideas in one design and as designer it is a requirement to be aware of any hidden metaphor. Extensive research is required to know if the designed logo does not portray any other meaning. As long as some meanings are not put into logo by designer himself, it’s not an issue.

Gucci font here refers to the font used in the logo of Gucci, which is an Italian fashion and leather goods label founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci in Florence. Granjon Roman is very similar to the serif font is used in the Gucci word mark. It is commercially used   around the world for all Gucci products.

The double G logo is depicting other meanings as well which is benefiting the brand image of Gucci. Some people do question if the logo means “Go Green”, so as to approaching towards sustainable business practices. It is also because recently Gucci has been participating in implementing Eco friendly designs. For sustainable design and fashion aficionados alike, it is just learned of Gucci’s new line of eco-friendly shoes called Sustainable Soles for the pre-fall 2012 collection.

Now, unlike other typographic logos, hidden meaning logos are way too difficult to design. The process of it is even longer than other type. Once the company takes the decision to opt for such logo, designers start using their technical expertise to plot the hidden symbolism before constructing the logo.

As Aldo Gucci joined The House of Gucci in 1933, being Guccio’s son he designed the logo of Gucci. It is now the most recognizable and memorable fashion logo in the history. The famous Gucci logo is seen by the world as a symbol of authenticity and grandeur.

Shape of the Gucci Logo:

The two interlocking “Gs” are taken from the initials of father’s name Guccio Gucci. “double-G” logo of Gucci is famous for its smart and artistic design. The Gucci logo has now become identical with style, fashion, and luxury.

Font of the Gucci Logo:

The Gucci interlocked “Gs” logo font is similar to that of Gucci logo. Guccio Gucci in Florence is an Italian leather and fashion goods brand established in 1921. The Gucci word mark is used in various Gucci products as well. However, the interlocked double Gs logo is used as a monogram instead of the whole word mark in bags and other leather goods.
